The Kyle Athayde Dance Party took over East Hall High School—and the band room came alive. Students didn’t just watch—they played, created, and connected with professional musicians who brought next-level energy, mentorship, and heart.
From side-by-side rehearsals to real conversations about life in music, this was more than a workshop—it was a spark.
This is what we mean when we say music education matters.
This is why SEYA does what we do.
And this is just the beginning.
The SouthEastern Young Artists (SEYA) elevates access, quality and responsiveness of the performing arts by bridging the gap between the community and visiting artists in North Georgia. We achieve our mission by growing the cultural arts through performances and education workshops.
Focused on accessibility, we present free and ticketed concerts performing in venues, churches and private homes. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization we can accept tax-deductible donations.

Our programs include the Lake Lanier Music Festival and the SEYA Concert Series. Both programs offer free and ticketed events, with concerts, educational workshops and community engagement events.
Our educational workshops provide a unique combination of musical education with Social Emotional Learning, which is usually a first-time experience for the students we work with. For example, during our recent workshop at the Gainesville Housing Authority, we introduced the cello and double bass to students who had never seen those instruments, and explored the concepts of emotion identification and self-esteem. Our goal is to provide access to experiences that allow young people the opportunity to engage with music in a way that supports their social development while laying important groundwork for a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
